The Honest Company: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

November 8, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 5, 2026, The Honest Company (HNST +5.18%) raised its full-year outlook for revenue and profit. The personal care enterprise is shifting focus toward higher-margin product categories while expanding beyond its traditional base of families with infants.

That operational shift expands its addressable market and improves long-term profitability. Three things management said on the call stand out.

1. High-Margin Products Drive Record Gross Margins

Focusing on wipes and personal care products pushed underlying adjusted gross margin to historical highs. Shifting product mix into higher-margin categories gives the business structural profitability.

Our underlying adjusted gross margin reached 49%, a new record for the company and an improvement of nearly 1,200 basis points compared to the prior year period.

2. Non-Parent Households Open a Larger Addressable Market

Expanding beyond the 11% of households with infants allows the company to target a broader consumer base. Capturing adult customer segments scales retail distribution and recurring revenue.

And in the third quarter, our growth in household penetration was a result of our successfully reaching these older households. Today, households without children make up more than half of all Honest households.
— Carla Vernon, Chief Executive Officer

3. Balance Sheet Strength Supports Share Repurchases

Zero debt and substantial cash reserves provide balance sheet flexibility. Management completed an inaugural $25 million buyback and authorized a new $30 million share repurchase program.

Our asset-light operating model continues to provide financial flexibility. We ended the quarter with $103 million in cash and cash equivalents and zero debt.
— Curtiss Bruce, Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Looking Ahead

Revenue and margin trends are accelerating across core categories, and management isn’t hiding its satisfaction. The company holds advantages in retail distribution, cross-selling, and liquidity while management watches household penetration.

With our year-to-date performance, we are raising our full year outlook on both the top and bottom line.
— Carla Vernon, Chief Executive Officer

Directing capital to higher-margin core platforms positions the enterprise for long-term category expansion.

Anchored by the Honest standard, we are on course to be this generation’s most iconic personal care brand.
