UFP Technologies: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

November 5, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 4, 2026, UFP Technologies (UFPT +17.66%) announced sales of $172.4 million, an 11.6% year-over-year increase. Organic sales growth, which measures revenue expansion excluding acquisitions, reached 11.1%. Three takeaways from management’s comments stand out for long-term investors.

1. Revenue Growth Is Spread Across Medical Submarkets

Medical technology sales expanded 12.5% in the quarter. UFP Technologies relies on broad demand across cardiovascular, orthopedic, infection control, and patient-handling products rather than on a single customer contract.

MedTech sales were up 12.5%, in the quarter with demand across the portfolio. One of the real strengths of UFP is that our growth does not depend on any single customer, program or end market.

2. Production Transfers to the Dominican Republic Experience Delays

Management is shifting AJR’s labor-intensive manufacturing, its medical product assembly business, to the Dominican Republic to reduce expenses. Customer qualification requirements have extended the timeline, creating a temporary headwind for gross margin, which measures profit after direct production costs.

This improvement was despite continued margin headwind at AJR as high labor products scheduled to be transferred to the Dominican Republic continues to be contingent on customer qualification.
— Ronald Lataille, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer

3. Balance Sheet Capacity Supports Larger Acquisition Targets

The business ended the quarter with a leverage ratio, which measures debt relative to earnings, well under 1x. Management is expanding its credit facility to pursue larger target companies while funding internal growth.

Between a strong, conservative balance sheet, a bigger team and our decentralized operating model, we believe we can bring on larger businesses and keep investing in organic growth.
— Mitchell Rock, Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Operational momentum builds into 2027 as new manufacturing capacity comes online in the Dominican Republic and recent niche acquisitions broaden specialized printing and molding capabilities. Management is focusing on operational execution and program integration across its decentralized operating model.

We have strong customer relationships, expanding capabilities, new capacity coming online, meaningful organic growth opportunities and an active acquisition pipeline.
— Mitchell Rock, Chief Executive Officer

Long-term growth relies on expanding capacity for single-use medical components while maintaining disciplined capital allocation for acquisitions.

Our strategy remains consistent: grow with our customers, invest in our people and capabilities, improve our operations, make disciplined acquisitions and create long-term value for our shareholders.
