Axon transforms law enforcement through Taser devices and cloud-based evidence management. Meanwhile, monday.com provides a flexible work operating system used for project management and customer relationship management (CRM). Both companies command high growth but operate in entirely different industries, making this a classic match-up between physical-digital integration and pure-play cloud software.

The case for Axon Enterprise

Axon Enterprise builds a public safety operating system by combining hardware like Taser devices and body cameras with its Axon Cloud software. In its latest annual report, filed for the period ending December 2025, the company highlighted its focus on U.S. federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. No single customer accounted for more than 10% of revenue in the 2023 through 2025 period, which helps mitigate potential concentration risk.

In FY 2025, revenue reached about $2.8 billion, representing growth of approximately 33.5% over the previous year. The company reported net income of roughly $124.9 million, resulting in a net margin of close to 4.5%. This performance continues a steady upward trend, as revenue rose from approximately $2.1 billion in the previous fiscal year.

As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is approximately 0.6x, while the current ratio, which measures short-term liquidity, is roughly 2.5x. For FY 2025, free cash flow was about $75.1 million. Note that stock-based compensation represented roughly 300.1% of operating cash flow, meaning reported cash generation is heavily inflated by this non-cash add-back.

The case for Monday.com

Monday.com operates as an AI-powered work platform that enables organizations to build custom workflows for project management and marketing. In its latest annual report, filed for the period ending December 2025, the company detailed its expansion into specialized software for sales and development. It has moved aggressively into the tech stocks landscape and serves approximately 250,000 customers globally.

In FY 2025, revenue reached around $1.2 billion, reflecting a growth rate of approximately 26.7%. The company achieved net income of about $118.7 million, yielding a net margin of roughly 9.6%. This performance demonstrates a clear path toward sustained profitability compared to the net loss reported just two years prior.

According to its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is roughly 0.3x, and the current ratio stands at approximately 2.5x. Free cash flow for FY 2025 was close to $310 million. Note that stock-based compensation (SBC) represented roughly 53% of operating cash flow, which inflates reported cash generation since SBC is a non-cash expense added back in the cash flow statement.

Risk profile comparison

Axon Enterprise faces revenue concentration in law enforcement agencies, where demand is sensitive to budgetary, political, and social factors. The company is dependent on sales of Taser devices and faces risks associated with non-lethal weapons classifications. Competition is intense in software and sensor markets, especially from Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI -0.83%) and Tyler Technologies Inc. (TYL +3.64%).

Monday.com competes in a crowded market for work management software against large providers like Oracle Corp. (ORCL -6.13%). It also faces specialized competition from Nice Ltd. (NICE +1.57%). Its success depends on maintaining rapid user adoption and successfully integrating new artificial intelligence features into its platform to stay ahead of rivals.

Valuation comparison

Monday.com appears significantly cheaper on both earnings and sales multiples compared to the premium valuation currently commanded by Axon Enterprise.

Which stock would I buy for 2027?

Monday.com is undergoing a bit of a reset. In July, it fired 20% of its workforce. It’s part of an effort to redirect more capital to AI services for its platform.

In its second quarter, revenue grew 22% year-over-year to nearly $365 million, but net income was $3.64 million, representing a net profit margin of barely 1%.

Still, there were some bright spots. Management touted a record net addition of $100,000-plus and $500,000-plus customers, saying they reflect the continued strength of Monday.com’s push to go upmarket. In July, the business crossed $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR), a milestone the company says reflects the durability of its core business even as it reshapes the company around AI.

For the full year, sales should rise nearly 20% to 1.47 billion, but net income should weaken to about $68 million.

Axon Enterprise, meanwhile, has a fine outlook for growth as law enforcement is increasingly equipped with Tasers and the public is becoming increasingly demanding that agents wear body cameras. Its cloud-based evidence control system is also an increasingly desired service for law enforcement organizations, too.

Expansion into Europe and Canada should also help, as should a focus on producing personal consumer-protection devices. In particular, all the data and video created by Axon customers have to be managed, and the company is seeing strong demand for its AI-based management systems from customers who find many of the services create efficiencies within their operations.

In its fiscal 2026, sales are seen growing well, up about a third to $3.7 billion, with net income of around $290 million and free cash flow of $425 million, well over 2025’s levels.

So which is the better stock to give your portfolio a jolt? Monday.com’s sluggish sales and net income growth are especially disappointing for a tech stock. Axon d
