Liberty Energy: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

October 30, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 22, 2026, Liberty Energy (LBRT -1.14%) announced a strategic development agreement for 1.2 gigawatts of integrated data center power services. The expansion into power generation gives the hydraulic fracturing provider a durable growth avenue outside oilfield services. Three things management said stand out.

1. Power Expansion Lands 1.2 Gigawatts of Data Center Capacity

Liberty Power Innovations, the company’s power platform known as LPI, is expanding beyond hydraulic fracturing into generation for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Management secured initial customer commitments through Energy Service Agreements, which are long-term contracts for on-site power delivery known as ESAs.

The agreement includes a significant prepayment of capacity fees and targeted execution of the first energy service agreement contract approximately 500 megawatts by December 2026.

2. Natural Gas Substitution Cuts Customer Fuel Costs by $1 Billion

The company continues investing in equipment that replaces expensive diesel fuel with field natural gas during well completions. Higher gas substitution rates drive customer loyalty and protect fleet utilization during soft market cycles.

Record natural gas substitution of over 60% of the total fuel consumed by our fleets provided annualized fuel savings equating to over $1 billion for our customers.
— Ron Gusek, Chief Executive Officer

3. Non-Recourse Debt Recycling Capital for Large Infrastructure Projects

To build out large power projects without overextending its balance sheet, management is deploying special purpose vehicles using non-recourse project level financing, which is debt secured solely by project assets. This approach recycles capital as projects mature while maintaining corporate flexibility.

Third, we are advancing non recourse project level financing strategy designed to recycle capital as projects progress. Our pipeline continues to attract strong engagement from a diverse group of capital providers including project finance or bonds, dedicated infrastructure funds and private credit markets.

Looking Ahead

Tight completions capacity and improving forward oil curves are stabilizing market pricing across oilfield services. Integrated power capabilities and customer trust provide structural advantages as energy demand accelerates. Management tracks pricing discipline across pressure pumping operations while advancing project sites for data center customers.

Strong customer engagement and strengthening market fundamentals provide a more constructive outlook as we close out the year and look ahead to 2027.
— Ron Gusek, Chief Executive Officer

Long-term value relies on executing dual growth vectors across completions technology and large-scale power infrastructure.

We are well positioned today to serve the demand for energy services in the years ahead.
