Anheuser-Busch InBev: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

October 30, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 29, 2026, Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD -1.80%) announced a 22% increase in underlying earnings per share (profit per share of stock) to $1.21 alongside an interim dividend raise to 0.40 euros per share. A brewer’s long-term compounding depends on expanding into higher-margin categories while returning excess cash to shareholders. Management is doing both by scaling non-alcoholic products and repurchasing stock while navigating volume declines in China.

Three things management said stand out.

1. Non-Alcoholic Beer Opens New Customer Demographics

Non-alcoholic beer carries higher price points and profit margins than traditional lagers. By attracting consumers who normally bypass beer entirely, these products generate entirely new sales rather than cannibalizing existing core volumes.

With an estimated 60% of the volume coming from new occasions and new consumers, no alcohol beer is an opportunity to develop the category and drive incremental volume growth.

2. Cash Flow Generation Unlocks Shareholder Returns

Strong free cash flow gives management room to reward investors while keeping debt manageable. The company boosted its interim dividend from 0.15 euros to 0.40 euros per share and continues executing a $6 billion stock buyback program.

Given the strength of our balance sheets and free cash flow generation, we have increased flexibility on our capital allocation choices.
— Fernando Tennenbaum, Chief Financial Officer

3. Mega Brands Drive Top-Line Expansion

Focusing marketing capital on key global brands like Corona and Michelob ULTRA allows the business to raise prices across global markets. Net revenue from these flagship brands grew nearly 8% during the quarter.

Our mega brands continue to drive profitable growth across our markets, with net revenue increasing by 7.7% during the quarter.

Looking Ahead

Global volume momentum is holding steady across emerging markets, and management isn’t hiding its satisfaction with the operating trajectory. Global scale, premium pricing discipline, and proprietary distribution technology like BEES (the company’s business-to-business digital ordering app) give the brewer a durable structural advantage over smaller regional rivals. Investors are watching how quickly management can stabilize sales in China while absorbing higher transportation expenses in North America.

Executing on category expansion and digital distribution positions the business for durable earnings growth over the next five years.

Our continued momentum reflects the resilience of our strategy and our ability to deliver reliable compounding growth across different operating environments.
