Level Up Your Savings: One Week Left to Score Ocarina of Time Remake for $10 Off

October 29, 2026 · by jessicaharper

Okay besties, we need to talk about the one deal I’m actually telling everyone in my DMs about this week.

Here’s the tea: the long-awaited remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 launches next Thursday, November 5th. And that means you have exactly one week left to lock in your physical edition with a $10 discount at Amazon and Walmart. After launch day, that physical version is almost certainly jumping from $59.99 to $69.99 — while the digital version stays put at $59.99.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Jessie, why is a financial coach talking about a Zelda game? Because THIS, my friends, is financial literacy in the wild. This is a real-time case study in smart spending, and I will use literally any opportunity to turn everyday money moments into teachable ones. Grab your iced coffee, let’s break it down. 💛

**The $10 that actually matters**

Let’s do the math together, because this is the kind of math I do with my coaching clients all the time. A $10 discount on a $59.99 purchase is roughly a 17% savings. If someone handed you a coupon for 17% off anything, you’d probably use it, right? But here’s the thing — we don’t always frame small savings that way. We think $10 is “just” $10. But $10 is a week of your streaming subscription. It’s a nice lunch out. It’s money that, invested consistently over time, compounds into real wealth.

Here’s what I’d do: if this game is already on your wishlist and you know you’re buying it regardless of price, preorder the physical edition now. Waiting a week to pay $69.99 for something you could pay $59.99 for is just leaving money on the table. And I don’t do leaving money on the table, and neither should you.

**The physical vs. digital decision — it’s not just about price**

Now here’s where it gets interesting. Once the game launches, the physical version goes up to $69.99, but the digital stays at $59.99. So if you miss the preorder window, the digital version becomes your budget-friendly option.

This is why I tell my coaching clients: every purchase has layers. It’s never just “do I want this thing?” It’s “do I want this thing, in this format, at this price, at this time?” The physical edition gets you that $10 discount only if you act within the week. The digital edition gives you price stability — same price before launch, same price after. Neither is wrong! But knowing the trade-offs means you’re choosing intentionally instead of just tapping “buy” at midnight because the algorithm got you.

Intentional spending is like 80% of what I teach. Not deprivation. Not “never buy anything fun.” Just… knowing what you’re doing before you do it.

**Deadlines are actually your friend**

Can we talk about the psychology of a deadline for a second? “One week left” creates urgency, and marketers know it. But here’s the twist — this urgency is actually aligned with your financial interest. The discount is real, the price increase is coming, and the deadline is genuine.

That’s different from the fake-frenzy stuff we see constantly: “Only 2 left in stock!” (there are 400). “Sale ends tonight!” (it ends again next Thursday). Learning to tell the difference between manufactured urgency and legitimate deadlines is a skill, and it will save you so much money over your lifetime.

This one’s legit. The launch date is fixed. The preorder window closes when the game drops. If you want the discounted physical copy, the clock is ticking — and this time, the ticking clock works for you, not against you.

**What this looks like in your real budget**

Okay, so let’s zoom out. Maybe you’re reading this thinking, “Cool, Jessie, but I’m not even sure a $60 game fits in my budget right now.” First of all, love that self-awareness. Second, here’s the framework I use myself and with every single client:

Fun money is a category, not a crime. When you build a line in your budget for things that bring you joy — games, concerts, thatMatcha latte habit we don’t talk about — you get to spend
