Fulton Financial: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 22, 2026, Fulton Financial (FULT +1.37%) reported record quarterly profitability. Expanding the commercial banking team helps build core deposit relationships across key regional markets. Growing wealth management revenue provides steady fee income alongside traditional bank lending.
Three statements from management highlight the bank’s strategic progress.
1. Commercial Sales Force Expansion Drives Deposit Inflows
Fulton Financial expanded its commercial sales team by 14% year to date to win primary banking relationships in core mid-Atlantic markets. That sales force growth helped generate nearly $600 million in commercial customer deposit growth during the quarter.
Year-to-date, we increased our commercial sales force by 14%, with over 2/3 of that growth occurring during the third quarter.

2. Commercial Real Estate Payoffs Restrain Overall Loan Growth
While overall loan originations increased 23% linked quarter, total commercial balances dropped by $63 million. Higher-than-expected payoffs in commercial real estate (CRE) multifamily loans offset new lending as non-bank competitors offered aggressive terms.
Commercial balances trailed expectations, mostly due to accelerated CRE payoffs above what we thought they were going to be in the quarter. And then specifically within that, it’s really multifamily.

3. Wealth Management Business Reaches Record Assets Under Management
Wealth management fee revenue rose more than 9% from the previous quarter, providing stable non-interest income, which includes revenue earned from fee-based financial services rather than interest on loans. Adding advisors and attracting assets from new and existing clients helped push total assets under management and administration to a new high.
Wealth management assets under management and administration reached a record $18.6 billion, and wealth management revenue grew more than 9% linked quarter.
