Strategy’s Michael Saylor Predicts Bitcoin Will Soar Past $100,000 Over the Next 12 Months. Here’s Why He’s Right.

October 28, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

Michael Saylor recently gave a price prediction for Bitcoin (BTC +2.14%) and, to the surprise of probably nobody, he’s bullish on the cryptocurrency. He believes Bitcoin will surge past $100,000 over the next year and spark a new bull market.

Saylor is the co-founder and executive chairman of Strategy (formerly known as MicroStrategy), the largest Bitcoin treasury company, so he’s not an unbiased party here. In this case, I think his prediction is on target.

$100,000 is a realistic target for Bitcoin

Bitcoin trades at about $80,000 at the time of this writing (Oct. 26). It would need to gain about 25% to reach Saylor’s price target, and while that’s a sizable jump, it’s not uncommon for cryptocurrencies, which often experience significant price swings in either direction. Bitcoin itself peaked at $126,200 in October 2025 and then fell as low as $57,700 earlier this year.

Timing may also be on Saylor’s side here. Bitcoin has historically moved in roughly four-year cycles. The tops of each bull market generally occur about four years apart, and the same is true with the bottoms of each bear market. The bottom of each bear market also tends to come around one year after Bitcoin’s previous peak.

For example, Bitcoin peaked at nearly $69,000 in November 2021 and then fell to about $15,500 in November 2022. Its next bull market high in October 2025 lines up nearly exactly with a four-year cycle. If the cycle holds, Bitcoin will bottom out this year, and it may already have done so.

Crucially, Bitcoin has performed very well the year after it bottomed out. In 2023, it gained 155.4%. In 2019, the year after another bear market low point, it gained 92.2%.

These are historical trends, so they don’t guarantee future performance. If they hold, Bitcoin could be due for a strong 2027, exactly the window Saylor’s talking about.

What could go wrong

Although the crypto market has rallied over the past two months, it’s possible the bottom hasn’t happened yet. The macro environment could also pose a headwind for Bitcoin, especially if the economy worsens. Investors often shift toward less risky assets during periods of economic uncertainty.

Interest rates are another potential issue. The Federal Reserve raised rates in September, and the market is anticipating another rate hike by the end of the year. Bitcoin generally performs worse in rising-rate environments, where yield-generating assets, such as U.S. Treasury bonds, become more appealing.

Among Saylor’s Bitcoin predictions, $100,000 is fairly tame — he has also predicted it will reach $13 million by 2045. There’s a reasonable chance Bitcoin hits $100,000 within a year, but it’s still an extremely volatile asset. If you invest in Bitcoin, it’s best to keep your position small relative to your total portfolio, and you should plan to hold for at least five years, being ready for the volatility that it will experience along the way.
