SpaceX and Tesla Form Merger Exploration Committee That Excludes Elon Musk
The possible marriage of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ:SPCX) is getting serious attention now that Elon Musk, CEO of both companies, has confirmed that each has formed committees of independent directors to explore a potential merger.
Musk isn’t participating in the discussions because his ownership interests in both companies create a conflict of interest. And while he cautioned a merger isn’t guaranteed, the logic behind combining these two mammoth companies is difficult to ignore.
