Why Is CoreWeave Stock Falling Today?

October 16, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) stock is down 11.2% as of 1:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, after some of the company’s bonds slipped into “distressed” territory.

Yesterday, the spread on CoreWeave’s five-year credit default swaps (CDS) reached a record high of about 1,195 basis points. In simple terms, that means it would cost an investor $119,500 a year to insure $1 million in CoreWeave debt, an extremely expensive figure.

At the same time, the company’s bond prices have been sinking — some are trading near 79% of face value — pushing the yield on its October 2031 bond above 16% on Thursday.
