This Warning Signal Just Flashed Ahead of Netflix’s Earnings — Here’s What It Means for the Stock

October 15, 2026 · by TPW Pipeline

Before Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) reported its 2026 second-quarter earnings on July 16, there was an early hint that the quarter may be mediocre. On July 9,The Wall Street Journal released a report stating that declining subscriber engagement had “become a frequent topic of discussion at meetings.”

Investors showed their overall disappointment with the report for the second quarter; the stock closed at $74.35 ahead of the earnings report on July 16, but by the close the following day, July 17, it had dropped 7.2% to $68.95.
