NuScale Power Trades Near $8. Here’s What Has to Happen for It to See $20 Again.
Over the past three years, NuScale Power‘s (NYSE: SMR) stock price has ranged from $2 to $53 per share. Today, it sits at a little under $8. Owning it has been a roller-coaster ride, with five drawdowns of 50% or more over that span. The current drawdown is the worst of them, at roughly 85%. That said, there’s a clear event that could prompt investors to rethink their views of NuScale Power.
The interesting thing about NuScale Power’s huge price swings is that they aren’t really driven by its business. That 85% decline didn’t happen because of some terrible corporate disaster; it happened because investors got overly enthusiastic about nuclear power stocks, and then moved on to other things. NuScale Power, a nuclear power start-up at the leading edge of nuclear technology, simply went along for the ride.
