Adobe Brings Premiere Video Editing to Android After Year-Long iOS Exclusive Run

Adobe has expanded the mobile reach of its Premiere editing app, launching an Android version roughly a year after the software first debuted on iOS. The release closes a notable platform gap for the company’s video editing tools, which had previously been unavailable to the large population of Android users who create and edit video on their phones.

Premiere mobile sits alongside Adobe’s flagship desktop video editing suite, giving creators a way to capture, cut, and polish footage directly from handheld devices. The staggered rollout — iOS first, Android second — reflects a pattern Adobe has followed with several of its mobile-first products, prioritizing one platform before broadening availability.

The Android arrival could matter for Adobe’s broader Digital Media business, which the company says serves photographers, video editors, and graphic and experience designers, along with teams and enterprises that create, publish, and promote content. Mobile video creation has become a major driver of content workflows, and extending Premiere to Android widens the funnel of potential subscribers into Adobe’s creative ecosystem.

In afternoon trading, shares of Adobe Inc. changed hands at $249.52, up 0.21% from the previous close of $249.00. The company carries a market capitalization of roughly $99.9 billion and is classified in the software — application industry within the technology sector.

The launch also lands in a competitive mobile editing market, where standalone apps from rival developers have long offered on-device video editing for Android users. Adobe’s entry brings its established Premiere brand and its Creative Cloud integration to a platform where it has historically had a lighter footprint in consumer creative tools.

What to watch

  • Adoption signals for the Android app, including download rankings and user reviews in coming weeks
  • Adobe’s next earnings report, where management may comment on mobile user growth and Digital Media momentum
  • Potential feature updates to the mobile app, such as expanded Creative Cloud integrations or AI-assisted editing tools
