Vontier lands Tesco deal to modernize fueling technology at more than 700 UK sites

Retail giant Tesco has selected Vontier (VNT) as its partner to overhaul commercial fueling technology across its network of more than 700 sites, according to a newly announced collaboration.

The agreement positions Vontier, a company focused on mobility and fueling equipment and software, as a key technology supplier to one of the largest fuel retail networks in the United Kingdom. While the announcement did not disclose financial terms, the scale of the rollout — spanning hundreds of forecourts — represents a sizable deployment of next-generation dispensing, payment, and site-management infrastructure.

For Vontier, the deal underscores its strategy of shifting from hardware sales toward integrated, software-enabled fueling ecosystems, including contactless payment, telematics, and remote site monitoring. Large multi-site retailers like Tesco have been investing in upgrades to streamline customer throughput and collect richer operational data across their forecourt estates.

News of the partnership came as Vontier shares traded at $33.30, up 0.3% from the previous close of $33.20, giving the company a market capitalization of roughly $4.5 billion.

The tie-up also reflects a broader trend among European fuel and grocery retailers, who are rethinking forecourt operations as electric vehicle adoption reshapes fuel demand. Retailers are increasingly bundling convenience retail, loyalty programs, and payment technology into the forecourt experience, requiring more modern and connected equipment beneath the surface.

Neither Tesco nor Vontier detailed the timeline for the deployment or whether the partnership includes exclusivity, future service commitments, or expansion into additional markets.

What to watch

  • Details on the deployment timeline and phases of the 700+ site rollout
  • Whether Vontier discloses the contract’s financial contribution in upcoming earnings
  • Any expansion of the partnership into EV charging or additional Tesco markets
  • Vontier’s next quarterly report for commentary on European commercial fueling demand
