Nscale, the Nvidia-Backed AI Cloud Provider, Takes Step Toward Public Markets with IPO Filing
Nscale, an artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure company known as a “neocloud,” has filed for an initial public offering, according to a report citing the company’s filing. The move would add another specialist AI computing provider to the public markets as demand for GPU capacity continues to reshape the cloud landscape.
Neoclouds are younger cloud operators built specifically to deliver GPU clusters for AI training and inference workloads, positioning themselves as alternatives to the large hyperscale cloud platforms. Nscale counts NVIDIA among its backers, tying its fortunes closely to the chipmaker whose accelerators form the backbone of most large-scale AI deployments.
NVIDIA, which describes itself as a data center scale AI infrastructure company operating across the United States, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Europe and other international markets, has become one of the most active strategic investors in the AI ecosystem. Its shares traded at $223.67 in recent activity, down 0.73% from the prior close of $225.31, valuing the company at roughly $5.56 trillion. Beyond its investment arm, NVIDIA’s involvement in companies like Nscale reflects a broader strategy of seeding the demand side for its own semiconductor products.
The IPO filing comes amid a wave of interest in AI infrastructure companies going public. As enterprises and AI labs compete for scarce GPU capacity, neoclouds have secured multi-billion-dollar contracts and significant venture and strategic funding, and public listings offer them a route to raise the capital needed for data center buildouts, which are among the most capital-intensive projects in technology.
An offering from Nscale would also give public market investors a more direct way to gain exposure to the AI cloud services layer, which until recently has been largely accessible only through private markets or through large cloud incumbents.
