Micron Shares Climb Ahead of Fiscal Q4 Earnings as Memory Demand Stays Strong

Micron Technology shares moved higher in Friday trading, gaining 6.58% to close at $1,016.59 after finishing the prior session at $953.84. The rally comes as investors look ahead to the company’s fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results, covering the quarter ended Aug. 31, due after the market close on Sept. 30.

The move marks a notable recovery from earlier this month. The stock closed at $977.41 on Sept. 10, sitting roughly 19% below its June all-time high, as questions mounted about whether the data center spending boom that has fueled memory demand can sustain its current pace. Rising costs across the AI hardware ecosystem have prompted some large organizations to cap AI usage to keep budgets in check.

Micron, one of the leading suppliers of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for data centers, has benefited from a global memory shortage that has strengthened its pricing power. HBM is a core component of AI accelerators, and tight supply has supported the company’s financial performance through the current fiscal year. Per management’s own guidance, revenue and earnings are expected to have continued growing rapidly in the quarter just ended.

The company carries a market capitalization of approximately $1.15 trillion, placing it among the most valuable semiconductor firms, and operates business units spanning cloud memory, core data center, and mobile and consumer segments across the United States, Taiwan, Japan, China, Europe, and other markets.

In broader technology-sector trading, Bandwidth Inc., a cloud-based communications platform-as-a-service provider, also posted a strong session, rising 9.37% to $56.87 from a previous close of $52.00. The software-infrastructure company holds a market cap near $1.57 billion.

The Sept. 30 report will be closely watched across the semiconductor industry, as Micron’s results and outlook are often read as a proxy for data center memory demand broadly.

What to watch

  • Micron’s fiscal 2026 Q4 results, scheduled for release after market close on Sept. 30, including revenue and earnings relative to management’s prior guidance.
  • Any commentary on HBM supply, pricing, and data center customer demand in the earnings call.
  • Management’s forward guidance for fiscal 2027, which may address whether memory shortage conditions persist.
  • Broader signals on enterprise AI spending, which has influenced sentiment around memory suppliers in recent months.
