AMD Sees Its Addressable Market Reaching as Much as $3 Trillion by 2030
Advanced Micro Devices has lifted the upper bound of its long-term market forecast. Speaking at Citi’s 2026 Global TMT Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 8, AMD chief financial officer Jean Hu told attendees the company now estimates its total addressable market could climb to between $2 trillion and $3 trillion by 2030.
The lower end of that range is not new. Since its Advancing AI event in late July, the semiconductor maker has guided investors toward a roughly $2 trillion addressable market by the end of the decade, driven by demand for chips across data centers, personal computers, and embedded systems. What changed at Tuesday’s conference was the top of the range, which the company stretched by as much as $1 trillion.
Context Around the Update
The revised forecast arrives with AMD shares trading at $516.13, up 2.81% from the previous close of $502.02, valuing the company at approximately $779.6 billion. The company operates across three reporting segments — Data Center, Client and Gaming, and Embedded — with a portfolio spanning AI accelerators, microprocessors, and graphics processing units.
Expansions of addressable market estimates have become a common feature of the AI infrastructure buildout, as chipmakers reframe their opportunities around surging data center spending and accelerating demand for AI compute. A larger stated market gives investors a broader frame for a company’s potential growth trajectory, though such figures represent internal estimates rather than committed revenue targets.
Hu’s comments position AMD alongside other major semiconductor firms that have been raising long-term market projections throughout 2026 as AI-related chip demand reshapes the industry’s growth expectations.
What to watch
- AMD’s next quarterly earnings report, including whether data center AI revenue tracks with the company’s expanded market framing.
- Any updates to the $2 trillion–$3 trillion TAM range at future investor events or AI-focused product launches.
- New AI accelerator announcements and customer commitments, which would indicate how the company plans to compete for the enlarged opportunity.
- Rival chipmakers’ own TAM revisions, which offer a benchmark for how the industry views long-term AI demand.
