CoreWeave’s Stock Has Cooled Sharply From Its June Peak, But Contracted Revenue Remains a Key Anchor

CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV), the AI-focused cloud infrastructure company, has seen a dramatic swing in its market standing since going public at $40 per share on March 28, 2025. The stock climbed to a record high of $183.58 on June 20, 2025, but has since pulled back substantially and currently trades near $90, recently up 0.42% on the day with a market capitalization of roughly $48.4 billion.

What Drove the Retreat

Several pressures contributed to the stock’s decline from its summer peak. When shares hit their all-time high, the company’s enterprise value reached $91.1 billion — about 18 times its projected 2025 sales. Sustaining that premium proved difficult as the company’s debt load and operating expenses climbed. The situation worsened in late 2025, when CoreWeave trimmed its guidance amid delays at data center projects, unsettling investors who had priced in rapid expansion.

Contracted Revenue as a Stabilizer

Despite the volatility, the company points to a notable offset: more than 75% of its revenue is locked in through contracts, providing a measure of visibility that many high-growth infrastructure firms lack. CoreWeave’s CoreWeave Cloud platform combines proprietary software with cloud services designed to automate and streamline the management of large-scale artificial intelligence workloads — an area of demand that has remained strong across the industry.

The gap between the company’s peak enterprise valuation of $91.1 billion and its current market cap of approximately $48.4 billion illustrates how quickly sentiment around AI infrastructure names has shifted, even as underlying demand for GPU capacity continues to shape the sector.

What to watch

  • Upcoming quarterly earnings, particularly updates on the data center buildout delays that prompted the late-2025 guidance cut.
  • Whether the company’s contracted revenue backlog continues to convert into recognized revenue on schedule.
  • Trends in debt levels and operating expenses as CoreWeave scales its infrastructure footprint.
  • Broader AI infrastructure spending patterns from hyperscalers and enterprise customers, which influence demand for CoreWeave’s platform.
