Nvidia Sets Oct. 1 Dividend Date After Steep Payout Increase

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) will distribute its next quarterly cash dividend of $0.25 per share on Oct. 1 to holders of record as of Sept. 10, according to details disclosed alongside the company’s second-quarter fiscal 2027 results.

The payment represents the second straight quarter at that level, a dramatic step up from the token $0.01 quarterly dividend Nvidia historically paid. The new rate is a 2,400% increase over the prior payout, signaling a shift in how the chipmaker returns capital as its cash generation has scaled with demand for AI data center hardware.

Even after the raise, Nvidia’s dividend remains modest relative to its share price. With NVDA trading at $223.67, down 0.73% in recent trading and valuing the company at roughly $5.56 trillion, the annualized $1.00 per share payout works out to a yield of well under 1% — an investor would need approximately 10,000 shares, or more than $2.2 million worth of stock, to generate $10,000 in annual dividend income.

Still, the increase moves Nvidia ahead of several megacap peers on yield. The company’s payout now exceeds the dividends offered by Apple (AAPL, recently $323.74, up 1.81%), Alphabet (GOOGL, $338.46, down 1.3%), and Meta Platforms (META, $616.77, up 0.47%), all of which pay comparatively small dividends of their own. Other large-cap technology names, including Tesla (TSLA, $354.08, down 5.49% today), do not pay a dividend at all.

The dividend comes as Nvidia has also leaned heavily on share repurchases as part of its capital return program, reflecting the enormous free cash flow produced by its Compute & Networking segment, which anchors the company’s position as a supplier of AI infrastructure at data center scale.

Dividends remain a small piece of Nvidia’s overall investor return story, but the consistency of consecutive $0.25 payments gives income-focused shareholders a clearer signal that the payout is now a standing feature of the company’s financial policy rather than a one-time adjustment.

What to watch

  • Whether Nvidia maintains or raises the $0.25 quarterly rate in its third-quarter fiscal 2027 dividend declaration.
  • Nvidia’s next quarterly earnings report, which will detail ongoing capital returns via dividends and buybacks.
  • Any updates to the record and payment dates for the January dividend cycle.
