ASML Expanding Capacity as EUV Orders Fill Through Next Year
ASML Holding N.V. is ramping up its manufacturing capabilities as demand for its extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems continues to escalate. The semiconductor equipment giant, which holds a unique position in the supply chain, reported that incoming orders for its EUV machines have already essentially booked its full manufacturing capacity for the upcoming year.
The surge in demand is being driven by the semiconductor industry’s urgent need for advanced logic chips and high bandwidth memory (HBM). These components are critical for modern applications, including the data centers required to power artificial intelligence. As chipmakers construct new fabrication facilities to address supply shortages, the requirement for ASML’s specialized tools has intensified.
To address this backlog, ASML plans to boost its output by 30%. Even with this significant increase in production velocity, the company’s order book remains full. Management is reportedly evaluating further measures, targeting an additional 30% capacity expansion by 2028 to meet future industry requirements.
Currently, ASML provides the lithography, metrology, and inspection systems necessary for the development and production of advanced semiconductors. As of the latest market check, ASML shares were trading at $1,747.58, representing a decline of 1.03% from the previous close.
