Accessory manufacturer 8BitDo has released the FlipPad, a new compact gamepad designed to transform modern smartphones into a retro handheld gaming experience. The device is a direct competitor to similar products recently released by rivals like GameSir, aiming to solve the issue of touchscreen controls by offering physical buttons in a portable form factor.

Unlike many wireless controllers on the market, the FlipPad utilizes a wired connection that plugs directly into the smartphone’s charging port. This design choice allows the accessory to draw power directly from the device, eliminating the need for an internal battery.
